Hi Jeep,

This might be a hardware compatibility issue. Can you provide more details on your hardware/software setup?

- What is the model and BIOS version of your PC?

- What is your OS and what NI drivers do you have installed?

- Are you connecting your PXI-1082 through a MXI card ? If so, what is the model of your MXI card?

- What is the model number of the non-NI DAQ PCI card?

- If you are using windows, are both of your devices visible in Windows Device Manager?

Now, have you tried switching the PCI slots of your non-NI card? In addition, the following articles might be helpful to you:

Hi Mikhail,

Many thanks for your reply, it took a while before I can go back to my setup and look onto the issue again. Anyway to answer you queries...

- What is the model and BIOS version of your PC?

I am using Dell Optuplex 780 destop w/ Bios Rev A05

- What is your OS and what NI drivers do you have insta lled?

Im in Windows XP. I'm not sure what drivers but my labview is version 2010 and there are loads of drivers already installed, do I really need to list them down here?

- Are you connecting your PXI-1082 through a MXI card? If so, what is the model of your MXI card?

Yup, I'm connecting through PXIe-8360 MXIe card

- What is the model number of the non-NI DAQ PCI card?

The other card that is installed in my PCI slot is the PLDA PCI10k-PROD B

- If you are using windows, are both of your devices visible in Windows Device Manager?

Yup, both devices are visible in the device manager

I've also tried switching on PCI slot but the PCI10k is still not working. I'm suspecting this is a harware compatibility issue and hoping that can be resolved by firmware updates. Unfortunately, I can no longer get a support from PLDA as the product has already be obsoleted. I'm hoping this can be fixed through the MXI.

Hi Jeep,

When the PLDA PCI10k-PROD card shows up in Window Device Manager, does it have a yellow question mark next to it? Can you clarify how did you establish that the PCI10k-PROD card is not working? Does Device Manager report any driver problems with any of the hardware you have? Another thing I would try is to upgrade the BIOS version of your PC. I believe the latest one for Dell OptiPlex 780 is A10. However, double check with Dell to make sure A10 is the latest BIOS version. If BIOS firmare upgrade doesn't work we can try installing MXI-Express BIOS Compatibility Software 1.4 on your machine and check if placing your MXI card into compatibility mode resolves the issue. In general though, this software is only installed when your computer does not boot when connected to your PXI chassis through MXI-Express card. However, since at this point it is not too clear which hardware is causing the problem we might give it try. Also, you have PXIe-8360 MXI card in your chassis and which card does it connect to in your PC? And just out of curiosity, when you have a controller in your PXI system and you connect it through Ethernet to your PC, do you also run into problems with your PLDA PCI10k-PROD card? Keep me updated on your progress.

Hi Mikhail,

PLDA PCI10k-PROD doesn't show yellow mark in the device manager but if you will use its vi's to generate or read digital signal, it will fail to initialize, allocate memory or transfer data.

Updating the bios and installing the MXIe compatibility software di not solve the problem. The PXIe-8360 is linked into the PC through PCIe-8360. I don't have a controller so I can't comment on your last question.

Anyway, thanks for your replies. I hope we still have other ideas on how to fix this. I could send you on the PLDA installer which contains the vi's and product documentaion if you like.

Jeep

Clarification: What I have in the PC is the PCIe-8361 not PCIe-8360.

Hi Jeep,

Another thing we can try is to switch computers and see if your setup works on a different PC (with a different BIOS version). Also, feel free to post any additional documentation on PLDA PCI10k-PROD card that might be helpful in this case. And just to confirm, the PLDA PCI10k-PROD card works just fine as long as you don't have PXI-1082 chassis connected to your PC, is this correct?
