CAN Device requires Driver update

Hi,

I had recently procured NI-PCI CAN Card(Series 2).I already have labview version 7.1 with its drivers. The NI CAN driver version assosciated with LABVIEW was 2.3.I had installed the drivers and after which i installed the card. But the Card was not getting detected. There was associated CAN driver CD of version 2.5.2,when i upgraded my driver from 2.3 to 2.5.2 it worked fine.

My question : Is it that with the new hardwares being received is it recommded that you have to use associated drivers which comes with the hardware?
my doubt is if i have already built an application with some old version of labview and if i upgrade latest drivers, will labview automatically take care of new driver versions?

Hello,
You will need to use the version of the driver that supports your device, otherwise your device will not be recognised by Windows.

Your CAN Series 2 card can use both Channel and Frame api calls. There should be no problems using code written in an earlier version of the CAN driver.
