CAN Standard connector

Is there any standard regarding what type and gender a CAN connector should
be? The NI cards have Male DB9.
If I make a box that is to be daisy chained in the CAN bus, should I put
bot male and female DB9s?

There are many standard connectors, but it depends on your type of CAN bus. There is J1939, CANopen, CANkingdom, and DeviceNet just to name a few.
I would start at the CAN in Automation pages <> and go from there.
