My PC crashed by starting CANcard selftest in the last step for installation?

Hi,
I have tried to reinstall the CANcard and LabVIEW but my PC crashed by starting CANcard selftest which is actually the last step for installation?! Previously this CANcard worked on this PC but becuase by mistake two different LabVIEW versions have been installed, I reinstalled Win XP and now ...
I have already tried with LabVIEW7 and 6 plus CANcard driver 2.1 and 2.2 but that did not help.
Thanks for any hint.

what means crashed your PC? A blue screen came up or the MAX rashed?
The problem could be caused by 6.0, because the driver was installed by the LabVIEW Installer of this version.
This can cause problems with newer drivers, like CAN 2.x.
try to uninstall all LV versions and all NI drivers.
Then check with attached programm for NI components and uninstall the rest. Then remove the CAN board from your computer and start again.
Now install LV 7 and then the driver 2.2.
Then plug in the board and now it should work, if not contact the NI Support.

Hi DirkW,
By "PC crash" I meant that it hanged just after CANcard selftest launched and even with Ctrl+Alt+Delete I could not recover the system, then I had to reset the PC.
By the way I have tried with another PC and then CANcard worked without problem! (LabVIEW7.0 + CAN 2.2)

" ... Then check with attached programm for NI components and uninstall the rest. Then remove the CAN board from your computer and start again." I always removed the CANcard first and then uninstalled driver and LAbVIEW as mentioned in the CANcard manual, are you sure about above mentioned sequence?

Thanks.

Hi narooz,

what's the form factor of your 'CANcard'? PCMCIA, PCI or PXI?

Hi B2K,

It is PCI CANcard/2 (series2) and actually it has been installed but LabVIEW doesnot work properly when someone wants to open an example VIs. I attached some details.

that looks bad. i think you have old NI-Can versions installed or old Ni-Pal drivers. use the tool i attached last and search for old versions of this software. If it does not help call Ni Munich Office for support.

Hi DirkW,

Just since few minutes ago after uninstall and reinstall both LV7.0 German and PCI-CAN\2 v2.2, the system works again properly, I did not undertand why. Thanks for that tool, I used it to be sure that reg is free of any NI products hidden files, nothing has been found. Also I asked NI-Support in Munich and they mentioned that from LV 7 on this tool is not necessary any more (... Normalerweise sollte dies ab LV 7 nicht mehr nötig sein).
