PCI-CAN card Series 1 to Series 2 conversion

What are the steps to convert a fully working Ni-Can ethernet system that uses a PCI-CAN series 1 card to the new series 2 card?

normaly the only thing you have to do is installing the newest driver 2.1.2.
But there are some hints for users of older versions of NI CAN (<1.6)described in KB (82BBD8JHR).
Further a lot of improvemance were made for the new driver resulting in a little different behavior, like multithreading issues or new warning messages.
But in general a convertion should work without problems.
