canopen length limitation????

sir,
   i am using canopen encoder, i need to communicate with encode for distance range of upto 20m, the cable which i am using is belden cable 3042A as specified by NI... but communication with encoder is been possible for me only upto 5m...
                                 while i am trying to extend the length of cable,the datas are not coming........ was there any limitation of length in belden cable or for canopen communication.???????????/... i am using a baud rate of 50Kbit/sec...
 
please help me in this regard....

Hey Raj,

I see you're communicating at 50kbits/sec. If you take a look at this following KB article: What Is The Maximum Distance an Instrument Can Be From The Bus? You seem to be within the specs.

Did you check to use the right termination on both cable ends? Check the manual for more information.

I can only second DirkW : like mentionned in a previous answer, you must use appropriate termination resistors...
