I maybe defined my answer wrong.

It's wasn't meant to say Altenbach is unkind.

I know he is kind, otherwise he wouldn't be able to redeem this many kudoes.

Afterall if he wasn't kind then he had way less posts.

To be fair, while Altenbach used the wizard, it's not actually his avatar, but a stock image which the site lets you select (Altenbach actually had a modified version of the avatar, with a blinking eye, but that wasn't different enough from the standard one to be immediately obvious).

I checked and you are right. Maybe too many conclusions were pulled out without more research.

It's just a stock image....

Also to add, Ranjeet is learning a lot by posting.... so with his last 1000 posts, i got the impression that he improved technical AND "netiquette"-wise.

Still, room for improvement (for both), but it's getting better!

Trust me, Altenbach had his avatar well before Ranjeet entered the picture.  And I don't think there is anybody here who would worship Ranjeet.

Pretty offensive, though I guess you are right. Altenbach has a really high authority in this forum and knowledge of labview.

While not the most tactful response if you read the forums enough you will see that while not the most kind it is truthful. Sometimes the truth is unpleasant. But as Norbert mention Ranjeet is improving. That is the wonderful thing about this forum, no matter what level you are at you can always learn something.

This question is priceless, made even more humorous by the true desire-to-know from the OP. No fault of the OP and this response isn't poking fun at him at all, but regulars will understand why this question has made me laugh outloud.

In all fairness, we've all been asking ourselves the same thing. I'm somewhat hoping for Dennis to come in and comment on this.

A cursory read of this thread suggests that Ranjeet is an after-market knock-off of Altenbach.  Not uncommon in an global economy!

The question for Altenbach is whether he has lost business opportunity as a result of this. Should he have obtained trademark or copyright protection for his avatar? Probably wouldn't have been available if his avatar was a stock image- but the blinking/twinkling eye modification, maybe!

(Oy. What did the three years I spend working at an Intellectual Property law firm do to me? I am not a lawyer, nor did I play one on TV. I am, however, a registered Patent Agent in the US, should Altenbach or anyone else on the forum wish to seek patent protection for any inventions!)
