I know what you mean Jeff. I am currently at 85 on the LV all time list and slowly moving up. Don't you find it annoying when you post some good stuff for someone and they doon't bother to give you a kudo? Anyway, I threw one your way to help you on your quest.
I'll be glad when they change the titles. Maybe then I might be listed as "Proven".

You can have my spot at 36 (and slipping). I have grown very disillusioned with helping on this board.

My "illusion" was that newbies would appreciate when you find/paste links, make & post snippets, VI's, etc. Hundereds of people log on and just ask one question (one-hit wonders) then never check back in.
Well, there are different definitions of the verb "help".
For some people, "help" means "hand me the solution".
For others, "help" means "tell me what I want to hear".
For yet others, "help" means "explain something to me so that I understand it, and can use that knowledge to make me a smarter / more productive / more efficient programmer".
And, for some people, "help" means "give me a nudge and then let me do the rest, even if I bang my head against a brick wall a few times before I get it".
That's one of those things I've noticed as I respond to more questions on the forum. There are lots of different definitions of "help". The gentleman in the thread Mark referenced wanted to understand, and to learn, and to become better at writing LabVIEW code, so the kind of help we offer here -- helping people develop their understanding and increase their expertise -- was exactly what he was looking for. Kids who want us to do their homework for them -- or even professionals who want us to write their code for them -- are not looking to develop their understanding and expertise, they're looking for someone to hand them a ready-made solution. So when we attempt instead to explain, or to suggest directions they might take to arrive at a solution on their own, they don't always react with the kind of courtesy one might hope for.
That's my take on why people ask for help and then get pissed off when we try to help them. Different definitions.

Ray, I can't remember the last time I deliberately nailed a soccer ball into the back of someone's head. That's not polite. But I'll be careful, particularly when kicking left-footed. 
And you are quite right -- it is great fun to help others...and in some small way, to get to know the terrific people on this forum! There is even fun to be had in trying to help others whose definition of "help" is different from ours.
It's just fun on a different level.
