Indians thread

I think Down South is used to refer to Nagercoil & Kanyakumari more than Kerala.

I don't think so the usage is wrong. Don't take it literally the word "down". Read it along with the context.

I never meant you were wrong.

BTW, how come both the times are totally irrelevant... ?! Smiley Indifferent

Partha,

One is my system time and one is the forum time (constant). I have asked this in one of the threads recently. Let me see if i can link it.

It is really unbelievable that our local system time is taken into consideration, when we are posting in a public forum, which is well governed (I think so) by a time-zone managing server. Smiley Surprised

The reason is that the time listed to the left is actually a timestamp of the message that is stored in the message database.  So the webserver is able to convert that timestamp to what ever timezone matches the person requesting the web page.

The time that is listed in the message body is just a dumb piece of text that gets thrown in by the message editor once you've clicked the submit button when you are editing the message.  It is treated no differently than any other text that you might have typed in yourself.

I think is is good that they're handled differently because it makes it possible to see where in the world a person is posting from.  (Or at least what time zone the person's computer is set for.)
