LabView vs LabWindows/CVI

altenbach,

Frankly, you are being a bully and it is not appreciated here in NI forums.

Opinions do matter but I do not appreciate you comment about my post being ramblings.

Putting emoticons in your post does not make it ok.

I think you took the car anlogy too far, all cars take you to where you want to go in the end, in what "vehicle" and "how" you operate them it is the point.

I read your ideas and I see that your are totally baised towards LabVIEW.  My post was a much less biased, even though I made it clear to my preference, I still claimed that either one is good.

This is not the place for aguments, it is for respectful discussions.  Please contact me at romsk22@gmail.com I would be happy to discuss this with you further.

# 1 : Altenbach. A Bully.  Ha ha.  Wait, are you being serious?

# 2 : Unfortunately, we cannot remote control other individuals and force then to appreciate things we want them to.  If that were possible, Art would be so much easier.  As such whatever you DO and DON'T appreciate is entirely your own business.

# 3 : It's pretty much standard practise when dealing in text messages between (possible) different cultures and mother languages to add some kind of marker that indicates the feeling intended behind one's text.  This role is taken by emoticons.  It's pretty much standard.

# 4 : Whether someone is biased or not is irrelevant to the points at hand.  Either their arguments are correct or not.  We're NOT holding a political debate here so please stick to the facts.  Fact is that your post (irrespective of it's bias) contained some factual errors.

Shane.

Spoiler
PS CVT is "Continuously Variable Transmission" not "Constant Velocity Transmission".  A car with only one possible velocity would, I presume in the absence of a perpetual motion machine, never move.

hooovahh,

Thank you for your comments.  Actually, opinions are acceptable in any forum, as long as they are done with respect.

You make good points.

Intaris,

Yes I am serious, but you know altenbach better than I do.

I think it is rude to call someones post ramblings, there all all sorts of opinions in the forum that could be considered ramblings as well, but I see no ill words to that effect.

I know why emoticons are used, but they were a bit backhanded in this case.

So, getting the matter at hand....

What are the factual errors to my post?

I stand corrected on CVT, Continuously Variable Transmission is what I meant, the point I was making was you didn't have to shift.

I think the usage of the word "rambling" was indeed appropriate to your post earlier.  Your usage of factual statements were interspersed with statements about your preferences or abilities which actually preclude your absolute factual statements on the topics at hand.  All of your "issues" represent mistakes which can be made in any programming language on the planet.  As such the entire basis for your comparison between LabVIEW and LabWindows essentially (despite all the text) boils down to LabVIEW = visual, LabWindows = Text.  That's a lot of talking and typing for essentially no new information.  That's pretty much the definition of rambling.

In addition, your insistance on the left-brain right-brain thing - a factual error (have you looked at the link Altenbach posted) - just makes things worse.

You either feel you have an elevated position of authority (how dare he contradict me!) or you are really sensitive (OMG, does he hate me?) for Altenbach to come off as a bully in this situation.  I would say, as a neutral by-stander, that you should re-read the posts in question and question why it is you are getting these responses.

If you take the time to get to know us, you'll know that calling Altenbach a bully is really quite ridiculous.

And next time you want to make a point about net-etiquette, don't use bold typeface to indicate shouting.  It's really quite annoying.

Ok,

So the factual error is Left/Right side of brain.  I can see that.

There are no feelings of elevated authority, it is just the term "rambling" was trigger for what transpired.

I use bold text to catch the eye to the crux of the messsage.

Example:

This is to grab your attention.

This is yelling!!!!!!

Also,  I don't use emotiocons, I have been using something similar since way before graphical lanugages, it is called "text" [smile].

So,

I will craft a new post.

But you must be aware of the general trend of bold typeface meaning shouting.  You can't just re-use alreads established mannerisms in a way you have defined for yourself and then simultaneously take exception that everyone misunderstands you.  That's kind of silly.  Like it or not, communication (even in old Skool text) must adhere to a common set of assumptions regarding the meanings of certain components of the language being used.

If you really want to highlight something, try underlining it.  Bold and ALLCAPS is generally treated as someone trying to raise the "volume" of their text.  This is generally frowned upon when unneccessary (which is almost always).

I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M YELLING ABOUT!!!

I feel like that is an example where it was necessary.

@Hoovahh

Well with yourself, it's always a good bet to shout as loud as possible, otherwise we don't really listen to what you're saying.

Smiley LOL
