I tried to find a thread to add this to, but the closest to a "meme" thread I could find was "LabTOONS".  I didn't want to pollute that thread with this, but I wanted to share.  One of my colleagues designed a resistor ladder with values from 0.25 to 2k Ohm resistors.  I wondered why my control software didn't increment the output resistance cleanly.

I was measuring some signals at test points on the circuit and couldn't get it to work right.

Took a closer look at the schematics:
