Here is my attempt.  It appears to meet the requirements of not modifying the original VI, activating Stop, and getting a Pass.  Follow the instructions on the front panel.

 

Saved back to version 8.6 but only tested in LV 2012.

There is no reason to just accept how the VI functions, Just short around the VI and jam in the desired result! I LOVE IT!

Hehe, ditto. There is a reason I didn't put too many restrictions. I wanted to see interesting results (and I knew I couldn't anticipate/stop all of the scenarios this board could dream up).

 

This solutions reminds me of a child's "I Win" game. Alter the rules and proclaim you win. I love it.

I did not claim that I was not cheating, only that I met the stated requirements (mostly). I changed the state of the Stop button but did not click on it.

I just turned on execution highlighting. My PC is slow enough that you can move from one button to the other during an execution of the loop without triggering an event 😛
