OK, this might get me in a bit of trouble but nothing I reveal here is not publically discoverable from exploration of the public areas of the forums. Some observation I have made are definatly "Holes in the system" Most I have notified NI about in the past.
Do watch the Users on-line section:
Two items of interest here;
The newest members.... watch for the suspect names and see whitch board they are spamming! this will get earlier reporting to moderator when more of us are watching each forum.
The View All button. (there are only five new members shown. I was late with the snip and the obvious spam name dropped off the bottom) Also- Are you wondering which blue-bar is on duty? Hey, PM the heck out of the BB's on-line! Just set a macro like "Dear NI Forum participant- there appears to be another Spam attack! Could you notify your supervisor?" and provide a link. I know that sounds evil but, don't you think management will soon get the message?
Next, What else can we do? The Request for mod queue has to be cleared 1x1. TAG "RTM + your initials" or something so that each post does not trigger twenty requests
Watch the tags before you report- one spam one request is OUR goal! The moderators are overworked enough- let's be nice.
Third (this one might cause trouble) Someone try tagging the next spam "Marked_For_Deletion" and report effectiveness back to this thread. I have noticed (and reported) that following that tag on some boards exposes deleted posts. It may "Pseduo-delete" a post. (Do not abuse the hole)

Yup that was the obvious spammer.

Do be a bit cautious using the View All members online.
For example: here is page 1 of 2 showing the 4 members (currently logged in 4 members 122 guests- its a slow day)
so don't pester the idle blue bars- they closed their browser without logging out first.. Hmmmm Jordan can you get Li to improve that feature a bit?

The problem with the "View all" link is the fact that it is misplaced, because it probably belongs below the "Currently Online" section higher up. It has nothing to do with the newest community members section where it currently resides. Pressing "View all" always makes me expect a list if the newest registrants.
It would be cool to have a link to a full page of "newest community members" sorted by join time. A history list of five is just too small on a busy forum. (Of course the spammers could create tons of "dormant" accounts, to be revived for spamming a months later.)

That much I understood. The multiple listings of several members, two week+ logins with no idle time (Idle count rollover?) and, disconnect between number of members on line and the list of view alls (maybe "view all who posted and did not log out + those logged in"?) Those issues could not easilly be reconciled in my mind.
But who argues that my mind functions normally?![]()
