Is there an exploit based on this?
no, just a pair of commas and a thorn.

They're back, albeit on a different tack.

And again. One thought that occured to me. If NI/Lithium doesn't want us users to have the ability to influence the suppression of spam posts directly they could at least allow us to do some self help. I looked at the account of the newest spammer and noticed a button "Ignore User". Unfortunately that button seems to do nothing. Why not make the forum rendering such that all posts from users set to be ignored are simply filtered out automatically?

An internet game of which I'm very fond (and for whose fora I am a member of the moderation team) allows you to ignore users (but not threads). When said user posts, the content is replaced with something akin to the following message:
"This user is being ignored. Wouldn't you like to find out what interesting things they have written?"
The answer is usually no, hence why they're ignored in the first place!

I'm pretty sure that is just a setting for Private Messages. But yes, there should be a way to ignore threads started by somebody.

Back in the habit this morning.
If all the effort put into spamming (both creation and deletion/prevention) were directed elsewhere, just think what we could achieve!
(Probably the same, and we'd just be sitting around watching YouTube videos of cats)

Looks like about two full pages this morning 😞
Now how am I going to avoid getting any work done? I can't just sit here idly watching the progress bar of my hard drive cloning without flicking through the forum.

Imagine if you will a LV noob posting a question on the LabVIEW forum. However, it gets lost in 8 pages of spam and is ignored. Discouraged he posts again. Again it gets lost, this time in 10 pages of spam and is ignored ...
This spam problem needs to be taken to a higher level. Outsourced. GOOGLE IT forcryinoutloud. This isn't funny anymore. It's embarrassing.
