Timer with pause, no polling

Did someone develop a timer with pause using events to avoid polling when the timer is pausing ?

Seems trivial. What have you tried? (... and why do you think polling is bad?)

What's the use case? Whenever I want a timer, I want it in a SubVI that I can check periodically to see how much time has elapsed. Is that what you want? Or do you want a user interface that just works like a stopwatch?
