6221 37pin help

I would like to use CTR0 as a pulse train generator and CTR1 as a pulse width measure. (Both Continuous)

While using the Gen Dig Pulse Train-Continuous.vi from the Examples, I do not get a digital pulse on any pin. (I used a scope to check all 37 pins.) The DAQmx only gives me CTR0 or CTR1 as options for digital outputs. (Do I need to add a clock or digital input or additional code to the example?)

While using the Meas Pulse Width-Buffered-Cont.vi from the Examples, I can not read a standard 1Khz digital pulse width on any pins. Again, the DAQmx only gives me CTR0 or CTR1 as options for digital inputs. (Do I need to add a clock or digital input or additional code to the example?)

When I use the NI-Max Test Panel, I can read Edges from any PFI Edge Source input line while the Channel Name can be CTR0 or CTR1.

My question is what are the physical pins for CTR0 and CTR1 on the 6221 37pin PCA and do they differ if generating or measuring?

Hi j.masse,

The pin-outs for the 37-pin 6221 can be found in the M-series user manual available at https://www.ni.com/docs/en-US/bundle/pci-pcie-pxi-pxie-usb-62xx-features/resource/m-series-user-manu... on page A-12. There is a good table listing the different counter outputs and maps them to the pin and PFI line they correspond to. The output of the pulse train will occur at the related counter output pin. When measuring the pulse width, you’ll use the GATE of the related counter. To test the output, wire the counter output to an analog input to view the pulse train.

I hope this gets you on the right direction.
