6601 multiple counters, new counter palette

I am using Labview 7.1 and am having trouble programming the PCI-6601 to simultaneously measure signals on more than one channel.  I searched the discussion board and found the following post: http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=27350&requireLogin=False

The problem apparently has to do with the 6601 only having one DMA channel, so you have to set the other counters to use IRQ.  The post says to the Set DAQ Device Information VI to set the other counters to use interrupts.  I am not familiar with that setting.  Please post a reply if you know.

The post also mentions a new counter palette that shows multiple counters.  Does that become part of the Labview function palette?  The link from the post is:

http://digital.ni.com/softlib.nsf/websearch/abc2de0382fb157a86256ad90068986e?OpenDocument

It links to a .zip file.  It claims to be a palette for TIO based devices, which the 6601 is.  Has anybody installed this counter palette, and is there anything complicated about installing it, or do you just run a setup file?

Thanks for any information,
Jeff

Hello Jeff,

To find out more about using the Set DAQ Device Information VI, turn on the context help (ctrl+h), hover your mouse over the VI, click on the "Click here for more help" link in the context help window.  The help file will have detailed information on how to use the VI.

I installed the Counter Upgrade Palette and it directly replaces/adds to the existing counter function palette.  To install it, all you have to do is double-click on the .llb file, or if doing that just opens a window with the llb files, double-click on the install.vi.  The installation instructions are in the README.txt file in the .zip file.
