6602: using the z-index pin for resetting in pulse generation mode

Platform: Win2K, LabView 6.02, PCI6602.

I have a 6602 counter and would like to use it for pulse train generation. In addition, I want it to restart the train immediately after it gets an external signal, even if not the whole train was generated yet. I wonder if I can use the z-index pin for forcing the counter to reload its initial value in pulse generation mode (or it works in position measurement mode only). If so, could you please give some LabView example ?

Thank you in advance,
Sergey.

Sergey,

Unfortunately, the Z Channel on your PCI-6602 cannot be used to reset a pulse train. Below is a link to a KnowledgeBase, which describes using the Z Channel to reset a counter:

Can I Hardware Reset My TIO Counter to Zero Each Time I Receive an External Digital Pulse?

For your application, you may want to consider gating the counter generating the pulse train.

Good luck with your application.
