CTR 0 doesn't seem to be working on PCI-6036E

Using "MAX" or "LabVIEW" I can get the pulse train output from counter 1 to work as expected.

When trying to use counter 0, however, if a pulse train of greater than ~ 600 Hz is requested the output waveform ceases to be a square wave. The output becomes a shark fin trace, diminished  in amplitude, with an increased average value. (The frequency of the screwy waveform does seem correct though.)

Can this be a configuration issue with the routable I/O or is the counter 0 likely toasted?

Barry,

Sounds like you might have a bad counter. But just to double check I threw together two LabVIEW example programs together for you. All it does is generate pulses on the counter, and does an analog read. You will need to wire the counter output to the analog input. Check it out see if it works for counter 1 like you mention and if counter 0 still exhibits the odd behavior. If you still see the bad behavior on counter 0 its probably a safe bet that something is wrong with the counter. That being the case I would recommend contacting National Instruments Technical Support (phone or email) to look into having it repaired.

Best of luck,

GDE,

Thanks for the input.

I couldn't open the vis (We still run LabVIEW 5.1.1).

We finally received a couple of PCI-6034E boards ... with functioning CTR 0 outputs.

Hence, it seems that the 6036 CTR is trashed.

Thanks for your time.
