Can 6602 Counter/timer provide 1K internal clocking to gate

I am counting pulses from source but need to sample exactly at 1K. Gate control would be ideal. Any ideas as to how to use the 6602 counter/timer to produce a 1K signal to be used by the gate?

Actually, there is a good tutorial online that shows you how to generate a pulse train from a counter. It also provides several links at the bottom to example VIs and more tutorials.
