How can I route a signal connected to the gate of a counter to one aux_line or PFI line?

Hello,

is it possible to route a signal connected to the gate of one counter to an aux_line or pfi line (e.g. to a source of another counter) of another counter?
The problem is all signals are connected to the gate pins of my pci 6602.
However, to perform buffered two-signal edge-separation measurement I need one signal on the aux_line.

Is there a work around or another solution?

Yes, it's possible,
I did the same operation you need yet, between 2 differents Ni-Daq.
I connect by HARD CONNECTION the OUT counter from PXI-6025 to GATE of 4 conuter on PXI-6602.
I need count with PXI-6602 on 4 ways during high level of conuter 1 and 2 on PXI-6025.

Contact me if you need some detail configuration fro the counter

Hi,
thank you for your fast answer.
However, I need to route the signal which is connected to the GATE to the OUT of another counter or to a RTSI_Line or PFI_LINE or Aux_Line.
That means your connection reversed.
Can this be done by SOFTWARE (maybe the Signal Route Vi) or will I have to make some HARD CONNECTIONS?

I would be thankful for every hint...

Thanks in advance

Hi,

when I posted a question like your 2 years ago, some one reply to use Routesignal.vi,
>"You can use Route Signal.vi in LabVIEW (or the NI->DAQ function Select_Signal) to route the OUT of the >6025E counter 1 to a RTSI pin. Then you can call the >function using the 6602's device number and select >the source of the counters' GATE to be RTSI 0.
>In LabVIEW you can use the Set Attribute function to >select the gate source. Or you can call the NI-DAQ >function GPCTR_Change_Parameter.

>Here is also a link that describes how RTSI is >implemented for PXI DAQ Devices:

I tried to do that without enough good resul
t and I had to use hard connection.
good luck

Hi,

thank you again for your fast answer.

But in the reply you mentioned it is written that the OUT of one counter is routed to a RTSI pin.
However, I want to route a signal connected to the GATE pins (PFI_38 etc.) of the counter to an AUX_Line or RTSI pin.

Is this possible via SOFTWARE or will I have to use a HARDWARE connection?

Does anyone know something about this?

TIA

Peter
