My counter does not have auxiliary line (up-down) input for the quadrature B signal.

Hi, I have PC-TIO-10 counter and I want to measure the angle by using a quadrature encoder having A,B and Z pins. The counter has source inputs,gate inputs,outs, EXTIRQ1&EXTIRQ2 interrupt inputs, FOUT1&FOUT2 frequency outputs and port A&B each having eight digital I/O lines. But it does not have any up-down input. This is needed to decide the direction of the angle. How should I do? Should I use two counters seperately for A and B signals of the encoder and solve the problem by LabView environment or is there a way to use one counter to evaluate both A and B signals?
Thanks a lot..

Hello;

The best way to go about reading quadrature encoders is to use the PCI-6601 board instead of the PC-TIO-10. The 6601 board has both the UP/Down pin and is already ready to receive a encoder input (it supports position measurement in Labview, which is an encoder input type).

To use the PC-TIO-10, you will need to use both counters, each receiving an encder channel, and do the calculations by Software.
