NI 9361 FPGA configuration

Hey Mike,

Did you hear anything back from NI about this issue?

Regards,

Hi Mike C,

At this stage it appears to still be with NI senior TSE and FPGA dev teams.

I understand that they are looking into likely links between particular cRIO chassis (904x vs 905x) types as well as CompactRIO driver versions.

No resolution as yet.

If you have any additional info to provide with regards to your specific case, including what hardware you are using, I'd be happy to pass onto NI.

Cheers,

Mike

Hey Mike,

Originally I tried this with a cRIO-9045, NI-9361, NI-9234, NI-9213, and NI-9220, running RIO 19.5.  The FPGA execution hangs right at the point of accessing any I/O node on the 9361 (i.e. Stop, Start, Digital Logic Threshold, Terminal Mode) or trying to read data.

I just tried it on a cRIO-9057 with the same card load & RIO software and see the same situation.

We have pretty much given up on the NI-9361 and moved to other DI modules, mostly NI-9411, but that has plenty of it's own issues.  I really wish they had a DI card with the same configurable electrical interface as the NI-9361, but that just presented the inputs to the FPGA where I can use my existing code that I wrote for the NI-9411.

I'm definitely interested to know if you find out any information, as we have some new projects upcoming that I need to spec hardware for.

Thanks,

Mike C

I realize this is more than a year old, but we just ordered an NI-9361 and we are planning on using it in FPGA mode. Is this still an issue?

Hi all,

Apologize for inconvenience caused but the 9361 issue now is fixed with the latest cRIO driver that is compatible with LabVIEW 2020. You can refer to the cRIO version that is compatible with LabVIEW in the link below.

Hi Gus,

Thank you for confirming this issue has been addressed.

While the system has already been deployed with a work around, if we do get a chance in the future to test, we will post the outcome.

Appreciate the update.

Hi Gus,

Just to confirm, the version with the fix is NI CompactRIO 2023 Q2?  Want to make sure I'm testing with the correct version.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,

Yes, the fix is included from CompactRIO driver version 20 onwards. So 2023 Q2 would also include the fix.

Gus
