Optical encoder

I have an optical encoder set up on the end of a motor shaft. I want to write a program that will count the pulses from the encoder as the motor rotates and then stop at a certain value.

I will need some additional info to have a chance at helpiing you out.

What will be the maximum rpm of your motor shaft?

How many pulses/revolution is your encoder?

Is it an incremental encoder or an absolute encoder?

What interface hardware do you plan to use between the encoder and the PC running Labview?

What version of Labview are you working in?
