Probleme bei Installation PC-TIO-10

After installation of the new Driver-Software and new PC-TIO-10 counter cards our data aquisition system is not working any more. Using the program MAX the card does not appear in the list of installed instuments. Using "new" does not supply the option to install PC-TIO-10.

In the VB-Program using Nidaq32.dll I receive error number 10401 on every call to the Dll. The Information in the help file states "The specified device is not a National Instruments product, the driver does not support the device (for example, the driver was released before the device was supported), or the device has not been configured using the Measurement & Automation Explorer." As mentioned using MAX does not give the required options.

Installation of
the hard and software was done according to the manual. Ie. Base I/0 adress 1AO, interrupt 9 (jumper & dipswitches adjusted acordingly). No conflicts detected.

The problem appears on 3 different PC's running W95 or W98. On one machine the new card partially works with the old software: I.e. the counters start, but do not stop after the requested time.

The new software is version 6.9.2f8.The cards have been purchased recently.

Klaus,

The PC-TIO-10 counter board is a legacy board, but is still supported by the 6.9.2f8 version of the NI-DAQ driver. At times, MAX needs to be refreshed in order to pick up hardware changes on your system. From within MAX you simply hit F5 or go to the View -> Refresh pulldown menu. If your hardware still does not show up in MAX, then check in the Windows Device Manager to see if the operating system has detected the hardware. Are there any hardware conflicts listed?

If you do not see the PC-TIO-10 board in MAX or the Windows Device Manager then there is either a bad driver installation or a hardware conflict with your ISA board and another device. Was your counter board installed after the driver? The driver MUST be installed first. If the h
ardware was installed first than I would remove the hardware, uninstall the driver, reboot, reinstall the driver, and then install your hardware.

Also, since this is an ISA device, IRQ and Base I/O address conflicts can arise. Try removing other ISA boards in your computer to free up possibly conflicts. Also, try different IRQ and Base address jumper settings on the counter board.

Installation troubles for ISA devices can get complicated. If none of these suggestions work for you, I would recommend that you call National Instruments Technical Support.

Hello Justin,

thanks for the information. Actutally I found the solution the hard way before I received this answer. I must have booted uninstalled, removed card, reinstalled etc. about 10 times until I finally found this F5-trick ;-).

It might be a good idea to advise the user to press F5 after installation of any new hardware or installation of the software. In my opinion the required action is not obvious enough - I assumed that something was wrong as the card did not appear in the list of instuments.

Anyway all 3 boards and the Microprobes are back in operation. Thanks for your help.

Best regards,

Klaus
