max nuber of PWM outputs NI USB-6221

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi,

I'm using the NI USB-6221 which has two counter to my knowledge. I need to output 6 PWM signals (same freuquency, but independent duty cycle) to control 6 external valves. Is that somehow possible or would I need a DAQ device with 6 counters?

Best thanks for any help/idea!

Assuming you need to vary the duty cycle as the program runs, you'll need 6 counters.  In addition to the 2 you have on your USB-6221, you could add 4 more with an X-series board (which are available in USB form, unlike the dedicated counter/timer boards).

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for your reply. You correctly assume that I need to vary the duty cycles during run time. I will consider your suggestion.

Best,
