programmable divider

Hi all, first of all, Im a noob here. Im doing an assignment, in which Im required to construct a programmable divider. I am not exactly sure how to achieve this. Can anyone help me out? The expected outcome is, when I input lets say frequency Fin into my divider, my output will be Fin/N, where N is the divider ratio. The divider ratio must me tuneable. Will i be requiring a microcontroller to implement it?

Hi yoboy,

You will need to give us some more details before we can help you with your problem. What programming language/environment are you using? LabVIEW? What exactly do you want to do? I mean, I'm pretty sure you're not asking how to do a simple division of two numbers, so what exactly do you mean? Are you using any hardware? If yes, what hardware exactly?

Please provide more details so that we can understand and assist you.
