Dasylab Email module Autosend

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi,

I am trying to use the email module in Dasylab 9 as a watchdog, such that when an input to a channel drops, it generates and send out an email.

I can get it to generate the email in outlook, but I am struggling to make it to autosend it. At the moment it generates an email and needs someone physically to press the send button.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am using NI USB 6009 with DASYlab ver 9.

Thanks,

Chandra,

sorry but the E-Mail MAPI interface don't have this autosend functionality. You can only prepare the E-Mail for the used E-Mail client but not send. There are following ways to solve the application:

(1) The current DASYLab 11.x E-Mail module include an additional way to send E-Mails via SMTP server. An autosend functionality is here possible. This E-Mail module is a member from DASYLab package itself, released from the DASYLab developers.

(2) The DASYLab reseller www.premega.de - so it's NOT from the DASYLab devlopers - offer an addon module (FTP-Ausgang) to send from module filled ASCII files to an ftp host. Based on these files you can also create an useful watchdog system.

(3) The DASYLab reseller www.premega.de - so it's NOT from the DASYLab devlopers - offer an addon module (Daten-Matrix) to send via asynchronous action a files to an ftp host. Based on these files you can also create an useful watchdog system.

(4) The DASYLab reseller www.premega.de - so it's NOT from the DASYLab devlopers - offer an addon module (DASYLab Status) to send direct an watchdog timing into a MySQL data base cell. Based on these files you can create useful watchdog system, included into an PHP internet side.

Dear MHa,

I downloaded a 28 day trial version of DASYlab 11 and encountered the same problem. I can get it to compose the email in Lotus Notes/Outlook, but it won't autosend it using the MAPI settings.

Then I tried smtp settings with gmail/hotmail accounts and it kept giving error message : "The email could not be send. The actual sending has caused an error".

Please help, I want to know that it works before I go ahead and upgrade the DASYlab licence.

Chandra,

"... I downloaded a 28 day trial version of DASYlab 11 and encountered the same problem. I can get it to compose the email in Lotus Notes/Outlook, but it won't autosend it using the MAPI settings. ..." - This is not dependent on DASYLab version. The Microsoft MAPI interface itself don't allow this autosend functionality.

"... Then I tried smtp settings with gmail/hotmail accounts and it kept giving error message : "The email could not be send. The actual sending has caused an error". ..." - Please read these threads http://forums.ni.com/t5/DASYLab/Setting-e-mail-module-for-gmail/td-p/1210493 and http://forums.ni.com/t5/DASYLab/Help-setting-up-email/td-p/1210265 - We have with success tested the SMTP E-Mail handling based on a GMX SMTP server, on a 1blu SMTP server and a National Instruments internal SMTP server.

Best regards,

MHa

First and foremost, and really loudly.

DASYLab cannot send E-Mail via Lotus Notes, or, as far as we can tell, Outlook. This is not DASYLab's limitation, but rather a security feature of those software packages.

We have customers who have successfully used Thunderbird, but we're starting to get mixed feedback on it.

If you use DASYLab as the SMTP server, a feature new in V11, you're also limited. It will not work with GMail, Yahoo, or Hotmail, because of the SSL security requirements.

I found an email service, Lavabit.com, that has free accounts for limited services. Annual accounts with more services start at $8/year. Check them out. I successfully sent email using a Lavabit account.

By the way..  The Pit controllers is up and running well.  the dual PID controls are stable and accurate.  I could not be more pleased.  Thanks to CJ for all her guidance !!!  One little issue is still bothering me.  Is there a way to assign a global variable to the background color of a temp display?  We would would like the background of the temp display to change as the actual temp approaches, is equal to and then rises above the setpoint temp.

Example:  Display is green if act temp is +/- 2 degrees of setpoint,  yellow if act temp is < two degrees lower than the setpoint, and red if the act temp is > two degrees higher than the setpoint.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

THANKS CJ. IT WORKS. I FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS OUR OFFICE NETWORK FIREWALL THAT WAS PREVENTING DASYLAB TO SEND OUT EMAIL. I TRIED IT FROM MY HOME COMPUTER AND IT WORKS LIKE A DREAM.

THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT & GUIDANCE.

REGARDS,
