Multifile

I'm new to DasyLab. I am trying to read multi-file (.ddf) into an ascii filter and output as an ascii file. I have succesfully converted single file but have been unable to convert multi-file at once. I was reading the DASYLAB7 manual and following directions of multi-file, but it doesn't mention (from what I could find anyway) about FILE INFORMATION. There is a drop-down box that gives me the options of Fixed,Combi,Global String No. I selected Combi but don't understand the inputs. When I perform the conversion it gives me an error that says "INVALID DATA (Open File - "). Can someone help me ? Thx, John

Hello John435,
I assume you are working with DASYLab7 from your post...have you taken a look at the Getting Started manual?  It includes an example worksheet that uses each of the different inputs to the Read File module.  It may help to take a look at this example to clarify the meaning of these inputs for you.  The getting started information should be in the ...\DASYLab 7.0\GettingStarted\Contents\Addendum\Read-Write.htm location, but you can get to this location by selecting Getting Started from the Help menu in DASYLab.

Hope this helps, please post again if you have further questions about this.

If you have stored the data using the Write Data Multifile options, and have a series of files ABC_XX where XX is continuously increasing (00, 01, 02, 03, etc.), then, use the Multifile settings in the Read module to configure it to read a series of files.

The File naming settings (Fixed, Combi, String) allow you to define the root filename, or the first filename of the series. Note that you can't skip numbers in the series.
