SCRIPT PANEL: Project file browser widget

Status: Declined

Hi Lukas,

First of all, this is a good idea which I would also like to have in DIAdem.  Given the move toward python automation in DIAdem and SystemLink, though, the response from R&D was that most project level programmers in DIAdem and SystemLink will be using their own favorite external editor, such as PyCharm or Visual Studio Code.  The DIAdem SCRIPT editor is never going to "catch up" with all the great features these and other dedicated script development environments already have implemented, such as a project list.  The focus in development for the SCRIPT editor, at least for the time being, is to facilitate external editing and debugging for DIAdem and SystemLink.

1) could be great to have a project. simply based on root folder

2) in project, could be some small windows like the Data Portal, where we could have a category-based tree with folders and files of current project, where we could double click and open the file to edit it
