Hi,
I've upgraded to DIAdem v11.1 recently and have noticed that data containing NoValues, when plotted as 2D Graphs, are very slow to refresh when zooming and panning. I've tried to look throughout the Forums on this issue but can't see a solution.
The data I am viewing is in DIAdem .dat format and the problem can seemingly only be resolved by removing the NoValues and ensuring that the NoValues property flag for each channel is set to No. On some occasions, this means using the ChnNovHandle function twice per channel; once to remove the NoValues and a second time to change the flag. Is this a known issue and if so, has it been resolved in updates?

This is the first I have heard about this issue, although i suspect it is the way that DIAdem is handling the no value data. Would it be possible to get a copy of the data file so I can attempt to replicate the issue?

Thanks for your reply. I'm unable to send our data across due to its confidentiality and size, but it seems easy enough to replicate this issue using the EXAMPLE group of data that is present in the data portal when you first open a session of DIAdem.
First, plot the Noise_1, Noise_2 and Noise_3 channels in one area within the VIEW tab. Then change the view to n Systems [Linear]. The graphs should refresh with no problems when zooming/panning. If you now change some of the values within the Noise channels to NOVALUE's by plotting them as tables, and then switch back to the graph, you should see a change in the rate at which DIAdem is refreshing the transients. I noticed a change when simply changing one value in each of the channels to a NOVALUE. The problem is especially bad when panning.
I've seen this problem occur on my computer and on one of my colleagues, and we're both running v11.1. Please let me know if you observe the same issue.

I have followed the steps you have given me and I have not noticed any changes in the panning or zooming speed within DIAdem. What are the specs of the PC’s you are using to view the data?

Hi Andrew,
Apologies I've been slow to respond. My personal machine has the following specification:
OS: Windows XP 64-bit SP3
Processor: Dual Hex-Core Intel Xeon X5670 @ 2.93Ghz
Ram: 96GB DDR3 1333MHz
Graphics: NVIDIA Quadro 4000
The other machines used by most of my colleagues are of a similar specification, and are more than capable of running DIAdem.
I have asked a colleague using XP 32-bit to modify the Example data in the way I described. Like you, he did not experience the problem. He does however experience panning and zooming issues with our recorded data. Would it be possible send one or two channel's of our data securely to NI for you to look at?

Please do send over your data sets via our ftp site, using WINDOWS Explorer and drag&drop:
You should be aware up-front, though, that DIAdem does not list Windows XP 64 bit as an officially supported operating system. It's also the case that DIAdem is a 32 bit application, so it's only using 2 GB of those 96 GB you have available in RAM...
DIAdem DOES list Vista 64 bit and Windows 7 64 bit as supported operating systems, but Windows XP 64 just didn't garner much adoption. I personally use Windows 7 64 bit, and DIAdem works great on my laptop.
