Hi,
when trying to do the indexing with DataFinder, the indexing stops after a few moments and not all required files are being indexed. Does anybody know how the indexing can be accomplished?
I am posting this question because when running DIAdem I get an error message "Data XY not found". I wonder if the indexing problem causes this errror message.
I am using DIAdem 2017 (32 bit) on a Window 10 system
Thanks a lot for your help!

Hi lysi,
let me first ask some more questions to get more details on your issues:
1) Are you using My DataFinder (DIAdem's build-in desktop DataFinder engine) or DataFinder Server Edition?
2) When you say "the indexing stops after a few moments and not all required files are being indexed", what is actually happening? What makes you think, indexing has stopped?
Are you using DIAdem NAVIGATOR to browse your search areas and you cannot find/browse to your files of interest? Or are you using the search functnionality and the requested data set, or the respective file cannot be found?
3) When do you get the message "Data XY not found"? And what is XY?

Hi Stefan,
1) I am using My DataFinder
2) I believe indexing stops too early because only approx. 2600 files are being analysed. When my colleagues run the indexer (also My DataFinder) on their computers, a much higher numer of files is being analysed (> 20000). I am not familiar with My DataFinder and which criteria apply to "succesful indexing", so I don't know whether the numer of analysed files is meaningful at all. However, the status message after indexing stops is "running idle" ("Leerlauf").
3) The message "File not found" occurs when I try to load and preprocess (lysimeter) data (*.dsb). "XY" refers to the station names of the respective files, there are several so I just put XY as place holder.
Again, I do not know if the indexing problem is relevant for the file loading problem...
Any suggestions are highly welcome, thanks for your help
Katrin

Hi Katrin,
2) Can you please verify, you have the same search areas configured to your My DataFinder as your colleagues. Becasue if you're using My DataFinder you must have that same files on your computer.
In case those files are on a network share, I would suggest to have a centralized DataFinder Server (http://www.ni.com/datafinder/) shared with your colleagues.
3) Can you please provide some more details on how you're trying to load that file. Are you using some sript code, which cannot reach that specific file? Can you access that file using Windows File Explorer?

Hi Stefan,
soory for a delayed reply. To keep it short: even after reinstalling DIAdem the indexing still doesn't work correctly. The number of indexed files was much higher after the new installation, the problem still exists. As you suggested we may try to use a centralized DataFinder Server, although it is strage that the programme runs correctly on my colleagues' computers.
Thank's so far for your help and your suggestions. I'll let you know id we can solve the problem using the server version.
Cheers
Katrin
