Excluding areas in contour plots

Solved!
Go to solution
I am trying to plot xyz data on a 2D color contour. The xy data maps the coordinate position in the shape of octagon, can I get the contour plot limited so I don't get a rectangular output? Or can I exclude/clip an area after of the fact?

Hi gpburdell,

If you are using the "Characteristic Diagram" in REPORT or the "Contour" display in VIEW, you just need to look in that configuration dialog for the "Boundary Curve" tab and configure the non-rectangular base of the 3D surface.  For other 3D surface display types in REPORT you will need to run the ANALYSIS function "Calculate Envelope Curves" to apply the non-rectangular base.
