I am a beginner and would like to claculate the fft for one or two waveforms, the time axis(x-axis ) is not to be entered (from my understanding) .Any suggestions or help?

That's correct.
Waveform channels contain a timestamp information which is used as an x-Channel. If you are calculating the FFT of a waveform channnel, the result (amplitude) is also a waveform with the frequency as information as waveform parameters.
