How to get channels to show up in the data portal when loading .dat file?

I drag and drop the dat file from the navigator main screen to the data portal.  The gray loading bar on the lower right hand corner is moving but I don't get any channels in the data portal or the View screen.  Is there a specific setting that I have to adjust?

Hi ie661,

First tell us what kind of *.dat file this is.  Are we talking about the old DIAdem 8.x file format with a *.dat header file and usually a *.R64 binary data file?  Or are we talking about some other type of *.dat file?  Did you download a DataPlugin to use with this *.dat file from the www.ni.com/dataplugins web site?  If it's a custom file format, did you use the ASCII DataPlugin Wizard to create your own DataPlugin?
