Loading Channels in the Data Portal

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello,

When loading multiple data set in the data portal I notice the data portal root grabs the file name of the first file loaded and all subsequent files just load the individual group(s) of data.

This can be confusing when trying to quickly determine which channel belongs to which file. Is there any way for each subsequent data set to retain is file name when they are loaded for to the portal.

For example let’s assume I have three files names called file1, file2, file3 all with identical group names of data.

When I load all 3 data sets DIAdem grabs the filename of the first file and loads that as the root and then load the group "data". The next file that is loaded simply grabs the group name “data" but since it already exists it auto increments it to "Data1" and so on.

I am curious if there is any way to load the second set of data where it retains its file name as the first data set does.

Thanks

Hi Tim,

There's not room in the Data Portal as of DIAdem 2015 for the File properties from more than one loaded file.  DIAdem automatically retains the original Group name in the Group property "Source name", and it also preserved the original file, and it also preserves the File source of each Channel in the Channel properties:

"Source file"

"Source file path"

"Data source type"

It's also possible to configure DIAdem's loading behavior to send the File properties to each loaded Group from that File in the Data Portal.

Does any of this help your target scenario?

Brad,

Thanks again for your response.

The last scenerio may work.

How would I modify the loading behavior?

Hi Tim,

Choose the menu "Settings >> DIAdem Settings...", then click on the "Loading Behavior" item in the list on the left, then change the "Property inheritance level" from "None" to "Move to loaded level".  Now hit <OK> to leave the dialog and remember to immediately choose the menu "Settings >> Save As..." to latch this change into your "Desktop.DDD" file.
