Why do my fonts look like this when I do a PDF Export

I am running Diadem on 5 computers and this one is the only one that honks up the fonts.

Hi Skilagig,

If DIAdem is running fine on 4 PC's except on one PC I would think there is a problem with that PC.
The problem could be the following: You've prepared all files (like script files, layout files, etc. ) for your application on your PC. Than you've copied all files on all fife PC's and run the application. But on one PC there isn't installed the font you've used in the REPORT layout and Windows takes instead of the original font the pretended best alternative font. So please check whether all fonts you're using in you application are installed on all PC's.

I hope this can help you.

Greetings

Walter

Thanks Walter.

If I never change the font type, what will Diadem default too? Also, I took the font folder from a PC that the reports worked on and copied it to the non-working PC will no success. I also tried changing the font in REPORT to a well know font (arial) and still had not success.

cheers,
George

Hi Skilagig,

I've discussed this behavior with the developers. We saw that only the horizontal strings are broken the vertical strings are OK. Internal there is only one function which handles the strings and it doesn't matter with which angle the string should be drawn. So we think it is not a problem with DIAdem. Did you already print a layout with the same results? And what happens if you copy the report into the clipboard and past it into WORD?
But, maybe there is a problem with the graphic device driver.

Sorry that I can't help you.

Thanks Walter,
You were correct. It was not a problem with Diadem. I'm using a dual-monitor setup with one huge resolution. The fix was to set each monitor to have a seperate and lower resolution. I thought of that after your intial reply so thanks for triggering my solution.

Thanks Walter

I have been struggling for hours for the same problem. I am using remote desktop connection from my office pc to a lab pc. Finally I found that difference in screen resolutions is the problem.

I tried deleting pdf export printer device, also tried different diadem versions with different computers. None worked

Thanks again

Hello,
I’m currently experiencing this problem but it’s not caused by different display resolutions.

There’s the following setup:

Computer No. 1 (in my office) with Windows 7 (up to date), resolution 1920 x 1080

Computer No. 2 (laboratory) with Windows 7 (up to date), resolution 1920 x 1080, DIAdem 2012

Computer No. 3 (production hall) with Windows 7 (up to date), resolution 1920 x 1080, DIAdem 2014

When I work on the computers No. 2 and 3, reports are printed out correctly. But under remote desktop connection from computer No. 1 (for which they are supposed to) letters of reports are printed out stretched. If the font is small it’s hard to read.

It doesn’t matter whether I use the DIAdem PDF printer or our company’s network printer. All printers are installed identically on all computers. The printers installed on the remote client (No. 1) are not shared with the remote hosts (No. 2 and 3).

Other programs print out correctly under remote control. I’ve got no idea where the problem could be.
