On-Site Experiment Support

Hello,

I’m new to this group, so I apologize if this isn’t the appropriate place to ask.

I’m a researcher at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), located just south of Boulder. We are currently conducting an acoustic tomography experiment for the atmosphere and have been facing challenges interfacing Gill Windmaster sonic anemometers with LabView.

Does NI have a local technician who might be able to visit our campus to help us troubleshoot this issue? If not, are there other resources available?

Thank you for your guidance!

Which sensor do you have?  What kind of output does it have?  What device are you integrating it with?  I have multiple of these sensors and have succeeded with integration.  If you have an analog unit, it is pretty straight forward.  The serial version is a bit more involved, but also doable.  How this is done really depends on the NI hardware you have.

When I was at NCAR (ACD) we had a LabVIEW program with a pull down menu where we could choose a particular sonic anemometer. The ones that we typically used were Gill, ATI and Campbell. I think they were all serial connections. Have you tried just to read the output in something simple like Terraterm or Hyperterminal? I would start there to make sure that you have all the correct serial protocols and then move on to LabVIEW. Do you have a user manual? Depending on the version of LabVIEW, there could be issues with the drivers.
