Can I create a software based counter?

I'm using LabView only. I'm making an application that should count sync disc pulses on 6 digital I/O channels and would like to be able to send data out based on the number of pulses received. I do not have a hardware based counter on my PCI card.

It would really be hard to help you out without any other information regarding the model of the PCI board you have, the resources that are available, and which ones you plan to use for input and for output.
