Hello everyone,
I am using a SCB-100 board connected to a digital output device of NIPCI-6512 and we are using this to control pumps and solenoids. I am trying to figure out what is the max amperage that we can feed into the SCB-100 board and unfortunately am not able to come up with any searches that give a clear definition of the value. If anyone has the info or links to the info it would be great.

You should be looking at the specifications for the PCI-6512. That will limit you before the breakout board.

Hi,
So we are actually powering the ports on the SCB-100 with individual 3 Amp power supplies and we are already able to run 1 port at a time but we wanted to be able to run all 7 ports at the same time but wanted to make sure the board would take the load. I have attached a pic of the layout of the board. But we are not pulling power from the computer. We have external power supplies

Again, what matters is the PCI-6512. Go read the datasheet again. Specifically, look at page 2 (where is says the most current you can run through a line depending on if you are using a single line or all 8 lines in the port). You have to stay below those values (75mA/line if all 8 lines are used). Now add up all of the currents you will actually be drawing and make sure it is below 3A. Assuming you actually pull the full 75mA for 56 lines, that is 4.2A.

Given the transients that pumps and solenoids can generate, I really recommend putting an interface relay (and fly-back diode if DC) on each line. If needed, that also allows a simple emergency stop to be implemented by controlling the power supply to the relays.
