Hdigital trigger on analog signal (PCI-6143)

hello guys, I have a question on trggering on an analog signal. I have the card PCI-6143 and I would like to use DAQmx.Here is my problem, First I generate a 5 Volt digital pulse and send it to an ingintion box. Spark is coming and a flame develops to an ionization probe after approxm.20 ms. An analog signal from the probe is developing and should be triggered. At the same time, when the analog signal is triggered, another 5 Volt pulse should go to a camera system that should make a picture. Does anybody has a clue how to realize that or has an good close example to that problem. Thanks for an answer.

Hello Sven,

before I post an example, I would like to clarify your test setup.

1. You start an Ignition box with a 5V pulse.

2. You want to trigger an analog signal acquisition by an analog trigger (Analog signal rises over a threshold)?

3. At the time the analog signal acquisition is started, you want to generate a pulse that triggers a camera.

Is this correct?

first of all, thanks for your reply.
Answering your questions;
1. Thants correct, ignition box is activated (triggered) by using a 5 Volt positive pulse.

2. Thats correct. When the flame touches the ionization probe (approxim. after 20 ms after 1.) the change of resistance is measured by volt. The max aplitude of this changes is approxm. 100 mV.

3. Thats correct. At the same time, when the analog signal is passing a threshhold (triggered), a 5 Volt pulse should be generated and activate a camera.

Sorry,

but I have to tell you, that your 6143 does not support analog triggers.

You could use other hardware or think of solution that gives you a digital edge when your analog signal crosses a specific threshold.

I attached an example how it could be done in principal with analog trigger.
When your analog acquisition is started you could use the analog start trigger (Pulse that is given, when measurement starts) to trigger the camera. For this route the AI start trigger to a PFI as an output.

I will try that. Instead I have a counter card PCI-6601 and an USB-9211 for therocouple measurements. I think that doesnt brings any help.

Hello,

I have get the NI DAQPad-6016 for USB instead of the PCI-6143. For the new hardware my problem should work be solved easyly doesnt it?
An answer how to use that hardware in combination with solving my problem especially on the trigger problem would be great.
