How to change the channel of PXI/PCI-1409 while aquisition is running?

Hello,
the goal of my work is to build a stereoscopic video. Therefor I us two cameras.
I'd like to aquire one picture of each used channel successively and put them in different buffers (then loop).
The pictures in the different buffers shall be overlayed afterwards...

I tried to change the channel, but it only worked when I stopped to aquire, initialised again and startet aquisition with the other channel again.
But this costs to much time, because I need a minimum of time between to pictures of different channels.

Does anybody have an idea how to change the channels quickly without stopping the acquisition?

There is an example installed with the IMAQ-driver that shows you how to do this:
