How to record pressure by using NI-DAQmx 8.8 and scc-68?

Hi,

I am trying to record pressure measurements by using a NI-DAQmx 8.8 and SCC-68. I have  pressure transmitters that have output of 0-40mv. I have modules of SCC-TC0x, SCC-CI20 and SCC-RTD01. Is it possible for me to use any of these modules and read pressure values? How should I make the necessary connections?

Thanks in advance.

Hello nightingale,

Thank you for using NI forums.  The SCC-68 is just a carrier for signal conditioning modules, such as the SCC-CI20 etc.  In order to make the measurements you are going to need a data acquisition card.  Do you have a PCI or USB DAQ card?  If not, take a look at the link in this post and be sure to look for a multifunction daq card that can take pressure measurements.  Please let me know if you have any other questions regarding this post.

Have a nice day,

Hello Brandon,

Thanks for your reply. I also have a data acquisition card. The point that I wonder is that whether I will be able to use the modules that I have (e.g. SCC-CI20) for voltage measurements or not. Since my transmitters output is mv, I want to use my SCC-CI20 module to measure voltage, is it possible or do I need to have another module for voltage measurement?

Thanks in advance. Have a very nice day:)

Hello,

The SCC-CI20 is a current input module, and the SCC-TC0x are thermocouple input modules.  The TC0x modules can accept voltage measurements in the range of +/-100mV, but they have a 2Hz low-pass filter on them so you really wouldn't be able to measure an AC signal.  You mentioned that you were measuring pressure though, which leads me to believe you need some type of module with bridge configuration.  It is because of this that I don't think any of your SCC modules will work for this application.  What DAQ card are you planning to use?
