LabVIEW and Solidworks/COSMOS Motion

Had anyone sucessfully managed to use the demos on NI.com to drive solidworks motion from labview?

I have tried but I keep getting the following error message:

"Error 97 ocoured at Unknown System Error in SW Get Part.vi ->SW Build Force->4 icon Example.vi

Possible Reason(s):

LabVIEW: Null Refnum was passed in as input"

Can anyone help?

Hi Scott,

I hope you are doing well today! Typically this error happens when:
- Solidworks is not loaded or the CAD Model is not loaded.
- COSMOSMotion is not active inside Soliworks. You can check this on the tools->add in menu.

If that doesn't resolve the issue, I would recommend contacting mechatronics@ni.com with detailed information on the problem and instructions on how to reproduce the issue.

Thanks for the reply. I have the assembly open in solidwork with cosmosmotion active when i get this error message.

At this point, I would recommend that you send an email to mechatronics@ni.com like I mentioned in the previous post.

I'm getting errors also ... specifically ... Error 1 occurred at Incorrect function.  in SW Load Motion Profile.vi->Run COSMOSMotion Simulation.vi->Basic Motion Assistant Example.vi  It happens when it tries to load the first joint info into LV when i am running the first example from NI.  mechatronics@ni.com is the email address?  i'll drop them a line.

I have the examples working well with SolidWorks 2007 and LabVIEW 8.5. Was unable to get the integration working with SolidWorks 2008.

that might be my problem also.  I'm running SW2008 SP3.0.

Can you explain me how you solved the problem and how your system is configured? Im Using Labview 8.5, MotionAssiatant 2.2 and Solidworks 2007 SP3.1 with Cosmos Motion 2007.
I encountered the problem both on WinXP and Windows Vista platforms.

somewhere along the lines i've verified that the Mechatronics toolkit was only released for SW2007.  They've not updated it for SW08.  I'm not going to NI Week, but a good buddy of mine is, and he's under instructions to go to the Mechatronics closed door session and find out if and when it'll work, and any new information about it.  If i find out anything good I'll make sure it gets on here.
