Matlab NI USB 6501 Mac OS X TTL

Hi,

I'm thinking of acquiring a NI USB 6501 to run some electrophysiology experiments. All I really want to be able to do is to send and receive TTL pulses from my within Matlab running on my Mac (OS 10.6.4). Has anyone got any experience with this? Is it pretty straight forward or a lot of hassle? I don't really feel like having to go through tons of programing, rather a Matlab toolbox with the appropriate commands that will interface with the hardware would be ideal. I used to use ActiveWire which was just great (very straight forward and stable) but they no longer support the Mac platform. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks,

Michael

Hello,

The NI DAQmx Base driver (for controlling your hardware) may support Snow Leopard at some point in the future, but until we can adapt to the architecture changes introduced in 10.6, we cannot give any statement of confidence for your application if you use it now. As per the knowledgebase, unofficially, your devices may work with DAQmx Base 3.3.0 on OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard), however, it is possible you will see errors in certain situations.

Best regards,

Ah!

Too late...!

I went with this:

http://www.mccdaq.com/usb-data-acquisition/USB-1208FS.aspx

Which looks like it might be the same hardware, or at least similar. It's natively supported by the free Matlab toolbox "Psychotoolbox" and works a dream!

Cheers,

Michael
