PCI-6503 fails with new video card installed

We have been using a PCI-6503 digital I/O card in a system for simple control and state monitoring using LabView 5.1. We needed to add a video card with two VGA outputs (formerly using the motherboard's onboard video). When the ATI Radeon X800 Pro (AGP) was installed, the PCI-6503 stopped functioning. It works if the video card is removed. The card does not work under program control, and it fails diagnostics with MAX v2.0.3.17.

The error code is "-10401 unknownDeviceError. The specified device is not a National Instruments product, the driver does not support the product (for example the driver was released before the device was supported), or the device has not been configured using the Measurement & Automation Explorer."

The Measurement & Automation Explorer does not allow the PCI-6503 to be configured, and when testing the resources, the eror report is "The device did not pass the test."

From Windows XP diagnostics, there does not appear to be a resource conflict, but clearly there is one.

Does anyone know how to resolve this?

Thanks!

I do not know exactly where your problem lies, but I can give you a couple suggestions.  Once you install your video card you said the card fails a resource test.  What happens if you reset the DAQ driver?  You can do this by opening Measurement and Automation Explorer, expanding Devices and Interfaces, right click on either NI-DAQ or Traditional NI-DAQ Devices and select reset driver.  If you are using LabVIEW 5.1, the newest version of the Traditional DAQ driver available is 6.9.3.   You can download the driver for Windows XP here:

You can try upgrading your driver to see if your problem still occurs.  Finally, if your problem is still occurring you can remove your PCI DAQ device and install it in another PCI slot after the video card has already been installed.
