I have the same issue with the PCI-DIO-96.
We are trying to upgrade a system (NT4/LabView 5.1). All the data acquisition boards are newly purchased including the PCI-DIO-96 , PCI-6071E, and (3 other non-national instruments boards). The new system would be LabVIEW8.6.1/XP and DaqMx 8.8
All the calls the program makes to Ni boards are of course traditional nidaq calls (which can easily be rewritten in daqMx)
For now ,converting the calls to DaqMx is out of the question because of validation issues.
For the XP system, I uninstalled daq mx (from control panel---add/remove programs) and rebooted. Measurement and automation does not list Daq Mx, meaning it has been uninstalled. At this stage, Traditional Nidaq is left over, but still, Measurement and Automation would not let the PCI-DIO-96 pass the self test.
We have the Daqmx 8.7.1 (shipped with the boards). When trying to install it (following the advice in this forum), it would not install because it is saying that a newer version of DadMx exists. (This newer version is supposedly uninstalled).
Anyway, an issue with DaqMx 8.7.1 is that it does not support LabView 8.6
If at one point a decision is made to simply use DaqMx, is the PCI-DIO-96 (newly purchased board, meaning new revision) fully compatible with DaqMx, or are there any known issues. If this is not the case I understand that the PCI-6509 is fully compatible with the DIO-96 board: ports wise and pin-out, am I wrong?)

Hi Dr. Imad,
There is no issue with DAQmx 8.7.1 and LabVIEW 8.6. They are compatible. As you have pointed out, there is an issue with the PCI-DIO-96 and DAQmx 8.8/8.9. You will want to use 8.7.x for now. Hopefully, further issues of DAQmx will be compatible with that card.
