PCI DIO 96 - IBM OEM

Solved!
Go to solution

Dear Support,

I got my hands on a few PCI DIO 96 cards from scrap IBM Tape libraries.

These cards were inside a special appliance PC running OS/2.

The card IBM partnumber is: 19P5156 (OEM 068-02369-0000)

Is there anyway i can run these cards under Windows?

I suspect there is a different 'firmware' inside the card, because it does not load the driver correctly.

Windows driver manager says: Cannot start device.

I use NI-DAQmx 9.0.2.

Some PCI card info:

PCI\VEN_1307&DEV_0054&SUBSYS_00541307&REV_02\4&258F4AE7&4040

Thanks in advance.

Dear H Haken,

thank you so much for your post on our webforum. Normally windows will find new hardware, and if you confirm it will use the DAQmx driver for this card. Your DAQmx version supports this device, so normally this wouldn't be a problem.

There are some devices which can load new firmware, this is done when switching from driver; but the hardware should be recognized and start for that. In your case I couldn't find any information about firmware, but again; your device should at least be recognized and started.

Doest this card also have a NI partnumber (something like 18xxxxA-01 or 19xxxx-01) more important do you have a NI serial number (5-7 hexadecimal digits). If I have this information I hope to track down if these boards are different from the original PCI 6509 boards.

Hi Martijn,

Thanks for the fast reply.

Sorry, but there is no other number on the card, then the one i wrote in my first post.

No serial or partnumber like you described.

There is one other thing that took my attention.

On location U11 is a 'piggyback' ic with the following description:

CS82C54-10 (P0406BC6H).

Hello H Haken,

thank you for your respond. Thank you for looking, I'm beginning to suspect that there are some major differences between the original PCI-DIO-96 and the board you have. Please notice the page 4-3 from the PCI-DIO-96 manual . The original board has a 82C55 chip on it. It also doesn't have a NI partnumber so it can be different from the original product part number (all products have a specific board part number).

I will investigate some more and inform you as soon as possible.

Hello H. Haken,

I did some googling with the vendor information you gave. There are some other manufacturers who are using the same name (PCI DIO 96) for their cards. With the vendor information you gave I came on the measurement computing  site.

In the end we can conclude that this device doesn't work under the DAQmx driver. Please contact the manufacturer about the proper driver.
