PXI-6508 PXI Trigger Generation?

Is it possible to generate a PXI trigger using the PXI-6508 Digital IO card (without additional wiring)?

Ideally, I would like to create a dynamic route of one output terminal to the PXI trigger bus, however I do not see any reference to PXI triggers in the manual.  Does the PXI-6508 support this functionality?

What are my options for generating a PXI Trigger?  Am I limited to using analog I\O cards ( which support dynamic routing to the PXI trigger bus) and counter cards?

Thanks,
Anson

Hello Anson,

Thanks for contacting National Instruments.

The PXI 6508 does not support dynamic routing to the PXI backplane.  This knowledgebase goes over how PXI modules route signals to the backplane of the PXI chassis.  A PXI card that supports backplane routing will require the connector labeled as J2 in the third figure from the top of the page.  This connector routes all of the PXI trigger and timing signals between modules on a PXI chassis.

Analog IO cards, timer counter cards, and synchronization cards such as the PXI 6652 support backplane routing.

Please post back if you have any questions.
