Use parallel port as digital Input

Hi all,
i am now want to write a vi for using parallel port as a digital input (OS:win2000, LabView6.1) and i have read the article on "http://zone.ni.com/devzone/conceptd.nsf/webmain/72C6FC6CE4AD4D1386256B1800794596?opendocument" but i still don't understand what it mean. Can someone explain it for me please?
Actually, i want to know the hardware setting (e.g. pin 13 connect to pin25,something like that) and how to write the vi.(is it just like the vi write in the above address)
p.s. Also, do i need to install any extra software like AccessHW for the VI working in win2000 or XP?

The hardware connections are going to be specific to the instrument or sensors to which you are connecting. Refer to the User Manual - if one is available. You should not need any other software than LabVIEW - and you should just be able to create the same exact code in LabVIEW by looking at the screenshots. You may also want to search the example code database for more examples. Good luck with your application.
